My Mom

Thanks to all of you who were concerned about my mother. She was in the hospital for a few days and is out now. We are still not sure what the exact issue was with her. She had been having episodes of collapsing and actually lost consciousness a few times. The neurologist told us that it appears she may have had a TIA but the real issue may be with her heart and not getting enough oxygen to her brain. She will be wearing a heart monitor for a few weeks to be safe. It may have been as simple as a reaction to a recent change in blood pressure medication.
Thanks for your prayers.

Today was the last Soccer game of the year for Sean's team the "Cougers".
He was so excited to get his trophy. He kept saying he was so glad to finally have
a trophy like daddy. When we got home he made a bee line for the living room and
set it right beside Buddy's Hall of Fame trophy from Lee that he got a few months ago. He called us in to show us what he did and it was so sweet. I took a picture of the two of them holding their trophys. I will post it another time when I get a chance. I just thought it was so sweet the way he wanted to be just like his daddy:)

A Perfect Evening

We needed to regroup after our crazy week so we decided to get out and do something fun. We thought about taking Lily to ASF to see "Coppellia" since her teacher would be dancing. I was a little nervous about taking her to the ballet since it was at ASF. It just seemed a little more formal being there and I did not want her to be disruptive. Sean has been to several plays and always behaves himself if he is with us alone. I also remembered Lily getting really restless during Nutcracker. Nevertheless, we decided to go. We got a great deal on the tickets with Lily being a student at Montgomery Ballet.

We thought it would be fun if Heather (my sister) and her daughter Sophie Grace came along. Sophie Grace loves ballet and has been taking lessons for about 3 years now.

We went to Olive Garden for dinner, a "fancy restaurant" as Lily calls it. During dinner she announced that this was the best night of her life. We had not even gone to the ballet yet. She is such an optimist:)

Coppellia was very good and the girls were on the edge of their seats for the first two acts. Sean on the other hand fell asleep on daddy's lap halfway through the first act. Lily fell asleep during the third and final act but Sophie was wide eyed the entire night. She sat on my lap and giggled in glee as the dancers leaped and danced across the stage in the finale.

A perfect ending to a not so perfect week:)

soooooo, how has your day been?

I've had bad days before, but I call stepping on my husbands new notebook computer and cracking the screen my worst in a loooooooong time. He is being very, VERY nice to me considering the circumstances. I just want to shoot myself.
We just wasted a bunch of time on HP support not being able to understand accents of people from we don't know where. The options are: pay $698.00 to get the screen fixed or over $1000 for a brand new one. UUUGGGG!
So now, I hate myself and have body image issues. I hate my big clumsy feet among other things. :(

Have a good night friends...

Montessori Fall Festival

What do you think I was saying?????

What do you think she was saying?????

Sean and his good friend Parker

The kids had a great time Friday at the Montessori Fall Festival. They played games, rode ponies, ate pizza, had their faces painted and much more. The highlight of Sean's night was winning the very last cake in the cake walk. It was a cranberry orange poppyseed loaf and I was really afraid he would be disappointed. It was so good though and he really loved it.

The kids don't go to Montessori anymore but they still had a great time with all their old freinds and teachers.

Now we have the St. James festival to look forward to next week. My luck was not good in any of the raffles or door prizes Friday! So, I am hoping for better luck at St. James. There is a $1000.00 tuition grant up for grabs. There is also a uniform gift certificate which would be great too.

I love October! Festivals, Pumpkin Patch, State Fair.... So much fun!

Pict-ure battles

Lily & I had a little battle today over getting her pictures done for the birthday invitation. She did well for Julia's newest creation but was totally burnt out by the time we finished.

After a few shots in her birthday dress she got more cooperative and I was able to get a few good shots. I thought I would just do her birthday pictures myself this year instead of taking her somewhere. The sky was cloudy a good bit of the day which was perfect.

Sneak Peek

Julia of frogbelliesandblossoms will be listing this soon so stay tuned. Here is a sneak peak of Lily in her newest creation....

I've Been Tagged.

Nancy tagged me to write 7 random or weird things about myself. I am never good at stuff like this but here goes anyway....

1. I have a crazy little nervous habit of rubbing my index finger over my lip. I do it obsessively if I am really stressed about something.

2. When I am holding my sleeping kids, I look in the mirror at myself holding them. I think actually seeing the image of myself holding them makes me feel like I will always remember what it was like holding them when they were very small. I have been doing this since they were newborn.

3. I can't stand to have a drawer or closet cracked or open. Even if my house is a mess, I can overlook it all and go close the one drawer that is not closed all the way with a piece of a sock or something hanging out.

4. I wear flip flops almost every day. I have all styles and colors and I love them. They are so easy and I have never liked having shoes on anyway even as a child.

5. I wear socks at home because I can't stand anything (dust or crumbs on the floor) touching my bare feet. It drives me crazy to have to dust off my feet.

6. I sing things to my kids instead of talking sometimes. My husband does this too. We pretend everything is a musical or a play. Sometimes this makes the kids really mad at us if they are grouchy.

7. I don't always manage my time very well and spend way too much time on the computer.

Wednesday Rant......

I am totally admitting that I buy my kids pop tarts which has to be the most unhealthy breakfast on the planet.

That said, why do they advertise the poptarts on the Indiana Jones brown sugar and cinnamon box as having a nice little picture of Indiana with his rope and not have a single pop tart in the box with that picture. In fact, every single pop tart had some words or a little animal or something. I had a very unhappy little boy and I know I should not have given in, but, I frantically opened every single package in about two minutes and that is all we got. Dumb words and little animal or compass pictures. No ropes, no Indie, no nothing.......

You know, come to think of it the same thing was up with the Barbie ones we got last week. We did not open all of them at once though. Lily could care less. What a little sweetheart she is. Never complains.

Right now I have 12 poptarts in ziplocks that he refuses to eat because they don't have Indie on them. I guess we won't be buying any more of those!

Veggie Tales Live

We had so much fun at the Veggie Tales live Show as you can see in the pics. Poor Lily fell asleep but the rest of them were full of energy the entire show. My sister Heather and neice Sophie Grace, My friend Tiffany and her daughter Jessie and Sean's good buddy Will and his mom Cheri all came with us. It was a sold out show. I had forgotten how much I liked Veggie Tales. It was so much fun. I acted like a kid, singing all the songs and dancing with the kids.

Boy behaving badly?

The following story goes under the category of "most embarrassing moments".

First let me say that today what not a very good day for me. The phrase "when it rains it pours" comes to mind.
I guess it all started last night when I realized our dishwasher was broken. Well, maybe it started a few weeks ago when I noticed my "check engine" light coming on in my car. I was thinking it may end up costing some $$$ dollars but I was not sure if it was just a small glitch with the gas cover not being on tightly enough or what.

So anyway, I took the car to Mcconell Honda first thing this morning and got a shuttle ride to work. The morning went well enough, Buddy picked me up and we had lunch at Eastside. (best part of the day)
I went to pick the car up late this afternoon and took Sean in with me to do the business of paying and such. I was already upset because of the money we were having to pay (it was not just a small glitch) and remembering that we were also going to have to buy a new dishwasher (agghhhhh) when it finally happened. One of those things I only ever heard about from other mommys. A most embarrassing moment finally happened to me.

I have a sweet kid but he must be going through a speak his mind and be brutally honest phase.

One of the ladies working behind the desk came out and lets just say she was not a small lady. She was a rather large lady and I don't mean tall or big boned. As she walked in our direction to wherever she was going, Sean walked over into her path forcing her to stop and said the following and I quote his exact words: "OH my gosh, this is something you don't see everyday! You sure are a fat lady"!
Are you laughing, or thinking that I have a rude little brat???? I shoot him a mean look and the lady walks away without a single word. Tears a welling up in my eyes but for some reason a laugh comes out and the checkout lady just looks at me. Then I turn around where all the other ladies are just red faced chuckling under their breath. Sean kept saying over and over, what mommy, I just said she was fat. She is fat she is.... I grabbed his arm and ran out. I went over to Buddy's truck and tried to tell him what happened but a lady came out with my car and my keys.
This is when my bad day gets worse. Sean and I get in my car and leave. As I am explaining to him about teasing (even though I don't think he meant any harm) and about bodys, feelings, being rude and all that good stuff I start to hear a steady knocking sound and feel an awkwardness about the car. I immediately call Buddy's cell and head back to Mcconell. I pulled the car back under the garage and explain the situation.

Long story short, #1 there was a bolt or rather large screw of some sort in my tire, #2. I picked it up somewhere else (yeah right) and #3. we are going to have to pay for the repair. This is where poor Buddy's pent up stress came out and he let them have it. By this I mean he voiced his disapproval and then told them they just lost a customer and then drove off very abruptly.
Wait, did I tell you that he got in my car and drove off with my purse and cell and I had a sleeping half dressed Lily and Sean and needed to stop by the grocery store.
I took his truck home and Buddy took the car somewhere else to get the tire repaired. By the time he got home it was a little late to go to the store. I washed a sink full of dishes and still have the ones in the dishwasher to go. But, it is late and I am physically and emotionally exhausted. I am going to bed and will dream of a better day tomorrow.

You need a what??????

I think this may be the most shocking thing Lily has said yet! I was tucking her in bed and she very sweetly looked up at me and said, "mommy, I need a diary." Can you buy me one?"

So I am thinking either she is watching way to much t.v. or learning way to much on the playground at school!

Oh wait..... did I mention she is only 3 years old?

Blog Par-tay!

Thanks to Kristi, a great new blogger pal, I went to my very first blog event today. Some of us local bloggers got together and met for lunch at Eastside Grille. She arranged this event along with another blogger (I think) and I am so glad I went.

Actually, Leigh is the reason I went but Kristi was the one who came up with the great idea of meeting. I had pretty much decided not to go. (anxiety) I was only going to know one other person there and was feeling a little insecure. Soooooo, I did not even get ready to go. In fact, I had just gotten back from Sean's soccer game and about 5 minutes till time to be there I thought I may actually regret not going. (I really just did not want Leigh to be mad at me) :)

I met some cool new friends and can't wait to get together again. My only regret was not bringing Lily to play with those sweet little girls. She would have had a blast.

Click the link below to see some pictures and more details. I forgot to bring my camera.

I love the Fair again!

We took the kids to the fair today. It was quite nice actually. The weather could not have been better and crowd was very tolerable. Jennifer, my co-worker and bestest friend:) met us with her family and we all had alot of fun. The kids rode an elephant which was cool. Sean rode all the "scary" rides and has recruited Lily into the scary riders club. She surprised us with how confidently she was getting on everything. There were some tears though because she is still to tiny for many things and she really wanted to do it all....
