She just keeps getting better!

Julia never ceases to amaze me with her creativity and skill in coordinating fabrics and creating custom made, top quality, boutique style clothing. I love this set and want to bid on it for Lily in fact. She has listed it on ebay. You absolutely must check it out. There are more pics.

Lily's first pedicure

Have I mentioned enough on this blog how much fun having a daughter is?

Today we had our first official girls day out together. First stop, pedicures. We sat side by side in the chairs and she kept looking over at me with a huge grin on her face as the dangled her feet in the "blue water". I snapped a few pictures of her even though I was a little embarrassed to do it. Lily picked out her own color and chose to get flower on her first toe. The lady even did a little leg and foot massage on her. She found this pretty funny. I decided to have my eyebrows waxed and the poor thing looked a little worried that it might happen to her next.

Buddy took some pics of our feet together. I know you really don't want to see my feet but they are in the pics.

While we did our thing Buddy took Sean to a sporting goods store and then they went to Starbucks. The kids have had a theme lately about Sean being "another daddy" and Lily being "another mommy" so I think they really enjoyed having special time with us.

First day of school for Sean & Lily

Today was not nearly as bad as I expected.

We woke up early and took some video of the kids still sleeping and again as they ate and got dressed up in their uniforms. They were both very excited. I was spazzing out about paperwork, folders, juice money, extended day blah, blah, blah..........

When it was time to go I took pictures of them all dressed and with backpacks. We got to school early and walked them both into the building and waited in the "pod" until the bell rang.
With Lily (as per teacher's instructions) we kissed her in the palm of her hand and said goodbye. I think they were going to read a special book later called the Kissing Hand. She asked her teacher right away where the costumes were. Ha! That's our Lily.

Sean tried to play it cool but whispered to Buddy that he was a little nervous. We said goodbye and walked out.
I started spazzing out again about turning all the forms in paying juice money for the year so we walked to the office to get everything taken care of.
Buddy and I needed to unwind and relax after such stress so we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast :) That was good!!!!!

We come home for a bit and I went into Sean's room and spotted his beloved pillow. I got very emotional and took a picture of it laying there all alone without him holding it and started trying to write a poem about it. I know, I am cheesy but I just get that way.

Anyway, we picked them up at 10:30 today since it was the first day. They were so pumped and happy. We saw some Montessori friends and a few church friends.

We are looking forward to tomorrow. Pictures soon.....

Everything New

I feel like today is a calm before the storm. (funny, it is actually raining this morning)!
Today is the last day of life as I knew it before I had an official kindergartner.
All is quite right now as I sit here posting this. I have only myself to get ready for work. Yesterday I got a little taste of what is soon to come as it got a little hairy around here.
Sean was registered for the new soccer season and Lily had her first ballet lesson off the 2008 class.
This time tomorrow I will actually be sitting in a carpool line and then trying to get to work myself. It is done everyday by women everywhere and has been for years I tell myself! But, It is new to me so I am a little nervous.
So it will be getting up about 5:30, getting two very hard to wake up sleepyheads dressed and fed, then out the door by 7:00. Ballet on Monday, Soccer on Tuesday and Saturday along with all of our other "life".
Our little baby boy starts kindergarten and Lily will be in a K3 program at his school. I am sad but excited. He is very excited. As we tell him, he has one more "sleep" before he gets to go to his new school. I will let you know how our first day goes.
Tonight is Open House which I am looking forward to since I feel like it will me MY first day at a new highschool. I hope you are all adjusting to whatever is new in your life.
Have great day!

Help Me!

Buddy is teaching our 5 year old to fight!
No really, he was teaching him how to punch (box) whatever!
Today we took him to meet his new teacher at his new kindergarten and some of his classmates were there. One little boy very sternly told him not to touch his toy!
Well, if you know my sweet child at all then you know that he is about the most gentle, laid back little boy ever. He is just a sweetheart (except to his sister).
Bless his heart. He told the kid very sweetly that he would not touch his things and then he let us all know that he would be in big trouble with that boy if he touched his things.
At this point my heart is breaking at how naive my child is and how this is only the beginning of a very "rough" world for my baby.
So, after a long speech by mommy about how the little boy just needs to use kind words and that maybe he could help show him how to remember his kind words
(a montessori thing) daddy decided he needed to take over.......
On a lighter note. As we were walking around Cosco today trying to find things to spend money on Buddy starts singing his favorite "We are in the poor house now" song. To which Sean asks "Daddy, where is the poor house"?

Sean SAID he wanted to model something for Mrs Julia too!

It seemed like a good idea at first........
Then, he seemed a little nervous...
He was absolutely not into it in the end.

I guess modeling is just not his thing......LOL

Lily

Does it seem lately that I post mostly about Lily and not really about Sean?
The truth is that Lily is at such a cute age right now and just so naturally funny that I can't help but post about her.

Sean is at a stage right now where he just wants to sit there playing computer games, watching t.v. or playing with his little boy toys.

Lily is all about twirly skirts, makeup and scooping up dead cockroaches into her glass slipper and walking around the house talking to them.

Yes friends, I have a truely unique daughter. Tender hearted I guess. She found the dead cockroach and wanted to pray for it and then (I kid you not) make desert for it.

I am petrified of them dead or alive.

I did not want to scare Lily or give her my fear so I went along with her.
Plus, I did not want her to touch it so I had to make sure she only kept it in her glass slipper.

I was finally able to convince her that the bugs mommy missed it so we gently put it outside and said goodnight. She then put her head down and slowly walked down the hall and said "I miss my friend".

I will try to find something to post about Sean soon. Oh! He did tell me tonight that the creme brulee I made for desert looked a little like throw up so he wasn't having any.

Wedding Cake Picture

I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding on Saturday. I have been doing some family photographs for other people and children for a year or so now.

I really did not start out loving photography, my sister did. We always called her the family photographer when we were younger.

I married Buddy and he loved taking pictures. He had a nice enough camera already but with everything moving digital he bought us a really nice Cannon EOS 20D SLR, some equipment and several photography books.

Anyway, I still was not too interested until I had my babies and I fell in love with it.

I am still very much an amateur of course! But, I enjoy it and am just grateful that people give me the opportunity and actually trust me enough to do it.

Is she not the cutest little thing?

My sister's daughter, also Sean's partner in crime is so adorable. But, don't let that sweet face fool you! She emailed me this picture and it was too sweet not to share.

Happy Birthday Mom!

My sweet mother: AKA (maw-maw) had a birthday this week. Lily & I took her to lunch today to celebrate with just us girls.

We went to MY favorite place (go figure) Eastside Grille. Mom was good and stuck to her healthy eating habits as of late having a salad and some grilled chicken. I on the other hand was in no mood for healthy eating. I just had to have the Chicken fried steak, fried green tomato and mashed potatoes. Three of my favorites. I did have some turnip greens too. Soooo good! Sounds like it was my birthday huh? Lily stuck to her standard chicken nuggets. Silly girl!

Here are a few pictures of Lily and mom sharing some ice cream.

Wheat Twins, A Thins.... Whatever!

My kids are so silly!!!

Lately Lily has been humoring me with her pronounciations of wheat thins. I don't know if she is just being silly or is really having a problem saying it. She calls them tumble wheats. I correct her, but, also think it is kind of cute so I laugh. Today I caught her with the box and she looked at me and said "I was just getting me some A -twins". Confused, I asked her to tell me again what they were called and after thinking for a second she said "uummm, bumble beets".

I thought this was cute enough to share so I ran and got the camera to take her picture with the wheat thins. She was very excited about this.

Of course, you know Sean had to get in on the action so he wanted some food to take a picture with too. I offered him the wheat thin box but he would not have it. He wanted something better he said. He got a container out of the refrigerator and held it up. When he saw that it was spinach wraps he was very disappointed. You know me, I had to take the picture of his disappointment cause it was just too funny not to share.....

Laughter IS good medicine and I needed some today!

Deeper Still Conference

I just got back from the Deeper Still Conference in Atlanta Georgia. I must say that this is the first conference of this kind I have ever been to. I love doing Beth Moore studies and have done a few retreats with just her speaking. This particular event included two other women, Kay Arthur and Pricilla Shirer. They were GREAT! The Arena was nearly packed out with almost 20,000 women who were just hungry for a deeper relationship with Jesus. I completely forgot about taking pictures so here is a link to the D.S. site you might want to check out. http://blogs.lifeway.com/blog/deeperstill/
There are pictures and a day by day journal of what it was like. There was a special surprise guest you definitely want to read about if you are an American Idol fan.
I made some new friends as about 50 of us traveled together on a bus to the event and back for the weekend. I learned a lot, cried so much my head and eyes hurt and worshiped more then I have in so long and am excited about what God is doing and is going to do in my life and in my family. I am looking forward to going DEEPER STILL with him.

Sean's Haircut

A few people (I won't say who) have been asking us when we were going to get Sean a haircut. So, we decided that it was about time to do it.

It did get pretty long this time but I loved the curls.... I got some little old ladies pretty upset with me in the salon when they told me how beautiful his hair and curls were and that I should just "leave that baby's hair be"!

I think he looks very boyish with this cut though and we both love it.....
Here are the before and after shots:

What Not To Wear....

I am working all summer while daddy is Mr. Mom! He is an excellent caregiver but does not always follow my "rules" when dressing Lily. We met at chic-fil-a for lunch today and it appears he has given the job of dressing Lily to Sean. (really)
How could I be upset, it was just so sweet to me that he tried to dress his sister. I am just surprised that she went along with it though because she usually tells me right away when something on her does not match.

You may even be thinking that this outfit looks ok to you! (daddys)

In case you can't see the picture very well......The bottoms are bloomers (green & white gingham) that belong with another outfit. The shoes are turquise and brown. Hot pink top and, ok, What??? NO BOW???? Me and this girl need to have a talk

Oh Boy! Look what daddy got Lily!

Ok! This was a while ago and I have been forgetting to share.... Lily just HAD to have the pink and purple minnie crocs...

And,I got these (for me) a few weeks ago but was too embarrased to share.....

But..... look what happened today..... shoot!

Turns out, I actually liked these. I tripped while holding on to Sean and a little girl at school and my foot just slid right out of the croc.

Just to prepare you, Lily has her eye on the Dora crocs and Sean's best friend showed up for a playdate yesterday with Spongebob ones on. Oh Please No! I will just have to make sure that Buddy does not take any trips to the shoe store alone with the kids!

Good news though, I sold a pair of Sean's at a yard sale and gave Lily's hot pink ones to sweet Abby....

"Lily-isms"

Something New!

Our daughter says the funniest things. Things that make us laugh our heads off. Some things actually amaze us and some leave us a little confused as to where on earth she may have picked them up. A good friend keeps suggesting that we make a list of them before we forget. I fear we have already waited to late and have forgotten many of the funniest ones. Well, there is no better time to start then the present right. Anyway, there are some too funny not to share so from time to time I will be posting "Lily-isms" and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

So let me start by posting the first Lily-ism......

"Mommy, I'm all itchy! All over my skelington." (meaning skeleton)

Happy Father's Day Buddy......

Walk A Little Slower Daddy

For My Daddy
"Walk a little slower Daddy,"
said a child so small,
"I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right
,And know that I was true,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."
